2003 Senior Recap THE PLAYOFFS - NOVEMBER 9TH, 2003 AT ELMWOOD PARKThe Saddle Brook Senior Falcons advanced to the Super Bowl vs. Wood ridge after a 28-0 semi final win over the Carlstadt East Rutherford Wildcats! Joe Podence (2) Kalven Arriaga (1) and Adam Di Pasquale (1) had scores behind the strong offensive line. QB John Rocchio was 2 of 3 passing with 10 yards rushing. The defense chalked up its seventh shutout to propel the falcons into the super bowl!THE SUPER BOWL - NOVEMBER 15TH, 2003 AT HASBROUCK HEIGHTSThe Saddle Brook Senior Falcons (11-0) defeated the Wood Ridge Blue Devils (7-3-1) in the super bowl by a score of 14-6!!!The Blue Devils scored on the opening drive to make it 6-0. However, scoring wise it was all Falcons from there. On their first drive, behind the strong offensive line (Steve Beauharnias, Vinny Pelli, Mike Mttanasio, James Murray Jack Mormino and Frankie Daniello), kKalven Arriaga, Adam Di Pasquale, Joe (TheBus) Podence and QB John (Rock) Rocchio all had big gain runs. Kalven Arriaga scored to tie the game. One more score in the second quarter for The falcons by Kalven Arriaga and a critical extra point kick also by K.A put the falcons up 14-6.Kalven Arriaga left the game with a broken collar bone after a long run. Joe Pezzuti stepped up handily with several nice runs. With only short time left in the half, the tough falcon defense fended off an air assault attempt at the end zone by the blue devils with an Adam Di Pasquale interception. Adam nearly ran back the pick from the devils 20 yard line.In the third quarter the falcon offense chewed up over 9 minutes but failed to score and turned the ball over to the Blue Devils. However, the Falcon defense once again rose to the occasion and shut down the Blue Devils at the start of the fourth quarter. A see saw battle in the fourth quarter ended up having the Blue Devils pinned deep in their own territory. With just 3 minutes to go, after an impressive 40 yard drive behind Christian Nunez, the Blue Devils turned the ball over on downs at mid field, where the Falcons were able to run out the clock and seal the Super Bowl Championship for themselves! This was one of the most physical games played in the MFL all year. Both teams had their share of injuries and we wish falcon Kalven Arriaga a speedy recovery as well as Blue Devil Marc Peck who both required visits to the hospital.A special thanks to the Wood Ridge Blue Devils coaches and players. Your organization is a class act. Your courageous play in the Super Bowl did not go unnoticed. Even with visible injuries you played on until the final whistle. Super Bowl Champs on Senior Day - October 2003

This Senior Day is different than others

These 28 Falcons work as brothers

From third grade pee wee, not having one play

Coach Dip worked hard with us each and every day

He taught us the game of football and gave us a dream

The next thing you knew we were a Super Bowl team

We moved up to the juniors, not easy, not the same

Coach Andrew Taught us teamwork, but we missed the playoff by just one game

Senior year was here and harder than before

Coach Pete, Lou and Rick taught us to win it takes a lot more

We hit harder and faster and even that wasn't enough

Coach Pete showed all of us what it really takes to be tough

There is more behind each game plan that no one else can see

Coach Rick is the guy who masters each game plan, he's the man we all wish we could be

Our parents we are grateful for, the ones we thank the most

They're there all season, every season, when we win, they brag and boast

We want to thank Commissioner Bob & the Booster Club for helping us in every way

Especially for our uniforms, now we look as good as we play

If it wasn't for the 7th graders and those tough dyas in the pit

There is no way we'd be this good or hit as hard as we hit

2004 Pee Wee Recap THE 2004 PEE WEE SUPER BOWLTHE SADDLE BROOK PEE WEES WIN THE SUPER BOWLBY DEFEATING THE CARLSTATDT EAST RUTHERFORD The Saddle Brook Jr. Football Pee Wee team triumphed on Sunday, November 21, 2004 over the Carlstadt/E. Rutherford Wildcats to capture the Meadowlands Football League Super Bowl Championship title. The Falcons dominated the game by shutting out the Wildcats with a score of 14-0. Saddle Brooks record on the season ended at 10-0-1. That one tie had been to the Wildcats during regular season play. The SB Pee Wees had previously captured the Northern Division Championship by playing hard all season and having the best record in their division. Saddle Brook proved to be tough on both sides of the ball with the offense and defense being top-ranked going into the playoffs. The defense gave up only 37 points during the regular 9-game season. Not to be outdone, the offense racked up an impressive 181 points. In true blue Saddle Brook spirit, the 2004 Pee Wees are proud to continue the legacy of our township being the home of champions!The Saddle Brook Pee Wee Players & Coaches would like to acknowledge the Carlstadt Wildcat Football Program and congratulate their Pee Wees on a terrific season!SUBMITTED BY: Mariann Gelenius 2004

2004 Junior Recap THE 2004 JUNIOR SUPER BOWLTHE SADDLE BROOK JUNIORS WIN THE SUPER BOWLBY DEFEATING THE RUTHERFORD BULLDOGS 26-6!!!After defeating the tough Wallington Panthers 22-0, in the first round of the playoffs, the Juniors knew they had even a tougher road that lay ahead. They would wind up playing a team that they had tied or lost to. As it worked out, the Juniors would wind up playing the Rutherford Bulldogs.After deferring the opening kick off, the Juniors defense (which played unbelievably throughout the entire game), went to work on shutting down the potentially explosive Bulldog offense. After forcing the Bulldogs to turnover the ball on downs, the big play Saddle Brook offense went into action. With tough runs by the Saddle Brook backfield, the drive was capped of with a big QB gainer for the score. The Falcons kicked the PAT and were up 8-0.... As it turned out, thats all they would need.The ensuing plays would find the Falcon defense once again shutting down the Bulldog offense. This was an all day occurrence! However near the end of the half, the Falcons found themselves pinned deep in their own territory. After 2 successive penalties on 2 punt attempts, the 3rd punt from the Falcon's 5 yard line was returned for a touchdown by the Bulldogs. A failed PAT made the score 8-6 Falcons. With less than 2 minutes to go in the first half, the Falcons took over and would score again! The halftime score was 14-6 FalconsThe second half would find the Falcons scoring 2 more TDs. Something very special occurred in this game. The appearance of famous "B" Team! This team wound up shutting down the Bulldog offense deep in Saddle Brook territory!! It was the B team that would take the victory kneel! What a Great Job!!!The offense had played one of their best games of the year....However the defense was largely responsible for the big win. Play after play, the D Line, swarmed around the field, chalking up several sacks and interior tackles. The line backing core slammed holes shut and were in some of the biggest plays of the game. The coverage backs maintained position on the receivers...... and the result was a shut down Bulldog Offense!The Falcon Coaches & Players would like to wish the Bulldogs well on a great game played and great season.SUBMITTED BY: Mike Dipiazza 2004

2005 Junior Recap THE SUPER BOWL: NOVEMBER 19, 2005 AT LYNDHURST VS RIDGEFIELD PARKTHE FALCONS DEFEATED RIDGEFIELD PARK IN THE 2005 JUNIOR DIVISION SUPER BOWL IN LYNDHURST BY A SCORE OF 8 - 6!!The Falcons win the toss and opted to receive. The Scarlets kick off was an onside kick to our #55 Anthony Bufi. He covered it with Nerves of Steel, just like our staff taught him. The ball was now on the 50 yard line. Our dominating offensive wall: Center: Anthony Bufi, Guards: Anthony Big D Davanzo and Eric Big E Pettway, Tackles: Mike Donnarumma and Joseph Big Joe Camilleri, Ends: Devin Marchesani and Tyler Vitello. Our explosive back field: Quarterback: Kyle DAlessandro, Wingbacks: Tyler Adams, Michael Croce and Alex Fernandez. Fullback: Zack-Attack-Kovalovsky and Tailback: Mr. Speed Matt Dickman.In our first possession, line was getting a good push off the ball. The backfield was running hard. The chains are moving down field. Our second possession leaves us for a loss after a bad pitch fumble forcing us to punt. Ridgefield Park ball wound up on their 25 and our defense needed to step in to do their job.Our defense is built on 11 very aggressive football players. On our defense line playing nose guard: Mike Donnarumma, Tackles: Anthony Davanzo and Eric Pettway, Ends: Devin Marchesani and Mike Stankiewicz. The Outside Linebackers: Zack Kovalovsky and AJ Fontana. The Inside linebackers: Mike Croce and Joseph Camilleri. The Safeties: Andrew Caravaglia and Matt Dickman. The battle has begun!Our defense was in search and destroy mode. We stopped the Scarlets aggressive offensive attack and got the ball back. Our offense went back to work and Matt Dickman pounds a few great runs, busting tackles and making key cuts which set up our big horse: The Zack-Attack. Zack breaks a big run and but got caught on the Scarlet 3 yard line. It was first and goal for the Falcons. The offense pounded the middle hard, but the Starlets dug in tough. It was 4th and goal from the ½ yard line. Unfortunately, a fumble from under center allowed the Scarlets to take over. The Falcon defense came up big on their third play. Blitzing linebackers and aggressive front line play allowed the Falcons defense to chalk up a safety. (2-0 SB). The Scarlets kicked off. After a Falcon fumble the Scarlets took over on their own 45 yard line. They set up an impressive air attack went in for a touch down. Our defense dug in and stopped the Scarlets from their extra point attempt. (6-2 RP) We headed into half time trailing 6 -2. The game was far from over!!!In the 2nd half, the Falcons kicked-off and covered the kick like a blanket. Again the defense digs in! The Scarlets attempt a 4th & 5 conversion but get stuffed. Back on offense Zack and Matt pound ahead for 2 first downs and more. Saddle Brook throws 2 incomplete passes and a run for short yardage an turn the ball over to the Scarlets on their 20 yard line. The Falcon defense swarmed the Scarlet offense forcing them to air-it-out. The Falcons pickrd off a pass on 4th down and ran it back to the Scarlet 17 yard line. The Falcon offense begins to pound again at the Scarlets defense. On the last play of the 3rd quarter, Zack busts out around the outside for a Falcon Touchdown!!! (8-6 SB)With just a quarter of football left in their season, the Falcon defense went back to work. It was 4 and out for the Scarlets. The Scarlets defense tightened up and stops us. With minutes to go the Falcon offense turned the ball over on downs. It was 1st and 10 for the Ridgefield Park. The Falcon defense again stopped their running game. The Scarlets opted to go to the air again and once again were intercepted. It was the Falcons ball late in the 4th quarter and we moved the chains once again! The Falcons ran one more play then took a knee. The clock ticked down and the Falcons become the 2005 Super-Bowl Champions! This is truly the Best Played game of our Junior Season. The Ridgefield Park Scarlets were fighters to the very end. The players and Staff were a first class act.SUBMITTED BY: Joe Camilleri 2005

2006 Junior Recap THE SUPER BOWL: NOVEMBER 18, 2006 IN NORTH ARLINGTONCaptains for the big game consisted of Paul Gawin, Anthony Andreano, Kyle DAlessandro, Eriq Pettway, Eric Nasello, Max Belcaro, Alex Fernandez, Nicholas Camilleri, Devin Marchesani, Thomas Coviello, Kevin Bottine, Dominick Palmeri, Peter Lazzaro, Andrew Dziedzic, Isaiah Hill and William Ciolino. Heights win the coin toss and they will receive to start the game. Our Mighty Falcons kick deep in the middle and Heights slips and have a hard time fielding the ball. Like a blink of an eye, the SB Special teams are downfield on the ball.Alex Fernandez and Kevin Bottine and our Safety- Kyle DAlessandro. The stage is now set. Heights have the ball on their 30 a yard line its 1st and 10. The first series for Heights is 4 and out. Falcon Ball! Our Highly Explosive Offence consists of Center Dominick Palmeri and Devin Marchesani, QB Kyle DAlessandro, Full Backs Kevin Bottine and Isaiah Hill, Tail Back Alex Fernandez, Wing Backs Nicholas Camilleri and Peter Lazarro. Ok boys lets move the ball! Our first possession comes down to Eric Nasello, Guards Max Belcaro, Anthony Andreano and Paul Gawin, Tackles Thomas Coviello and Eriq Pettway, Ends impressive runs along with Alex for 2 more first downs. Our line is starting to dominate the game in the trenches! Falcons a 4th and 1 for the Falcons. QB sneak is a Falcon First Down! 2nd Offensive set for SB gets stopped. Heights Ball still in Heights territory. 2nd Offensive set for HH is 4 and out after a close measurement but becomes a Falcon ball. This drive gets turned over on a SB fumble. It is Heights ball again, 1st quarter is almost over. The quarter ends with Heights still in control of the ball. Heights completes a pass, this is a 1st down for the Aviators. Falcon Defense Digs In, they stop Heights and now we take with seconds left in the half, but Falcon Defense brings us to halftime with a score of SB 7 and HH 0.Falcon Offense starts a very impressive drive down field. 1st downs and chains are moving. Isaiah makes some impressive runs along with Alex for 2 more first downs. Our line is starting to dominate the game in the trenches! Falcons march downfield to the Aviators 11 yd line. SB has HH on their heals and we strike on a pass from our QB Kyle to our Tight End Devin for our first Touch Down of the game! We follow up with the same connection for the extra point. Falcons 7, Heights 0. Falcons kick off and bury Heights with 40 seconds left in the half. Heights were trying desperately to make something happen with seconds left in the half, but Falcon Defense brings us to halftime with a score of SB 7 and HH 0.The game is far from over and we receive the kick for the start of the 3rd quarter. Our Offense is now in over drive! First and 10 from our 35 yd line, we ran two plays and on a turn over Heights gets the ball back. Now our Falcon Defense becomes more aggressive than ever. Heights is loosing yardage and it was a quick 4 and out. Falcon ball again! Once again our Explosive Offence is moving the chains downfield. We are now on Heights 12 yard line but one more time a turn over gets the Aviators off the hook. We are now 2 minutes left in the third quarter with the score the same, SB 7 and HH 0. Heights goes to the air and a Falcon pick setting us up for 1st and 10 on their 15 yard line. Come on Boys; Lets strike NOW..and that we DO! We miss the extra point but the score is now SB 13, HH 0. We kick off once again with seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Our Defense goes to work once more. Heights have a few impressive runs as well as a completed pass. Now they are moving downfield. They are 1st and goal on our 7 yard line. Time out is taken by SB for a little pep talk. Come on boys, Do Not Let Them Score! We hold them to 4 and out. It is now a Falcon ball on our 4 yard line. First and 10 with 6 minutes and 45 seconds left in the game. Isaiah comes up with a big run for SB it is a first down. We now have a little breathing room. Next we gain some tough yardage from Alex and Kyle for another first down. Time is ticking off the clock and Kyle rolls around our end with some key blocks but most of all the pure determination and drive for a 70 yard touchdown! This turns the came over to a B game and saying goodnight to Hasbrouck Heights. We also got the extra point making the score SB 20 and HH 0. We only have 2 minutes left in our season, come on B team go out there and slam the door to our Best played game of the season. We are now the 2006 Super Bowl Champions. We defeated another great team. Hasbrouck Heights played very well. They showed great sportsmanship and courage. The players and coaches are a class act and had a terrific season. 2007 Season Recap 2007 SEASON RECAPPEE WEESThe Saddle Brook Pee Wees had a remarkable 2007 season! Although finishing third in the Northern Division, this group ravaged through the playoffs only relinquishing 7 points in three games, while scoring an impressive 64 points. What was more impressive is that the Pee Wees, who got better week after week, wound up settling the score with every team that beat them in 2007. In round 1 they were victorious over the Elmwood Park Bombers (Score: 14-0) who, just two weeks prior beat them 7-6. In round 2, they triumphed over the undefeated Southern Division champs Rutherford Bulldogs (Score: 24-7) after losing to them in a pre-opening day contest. Finally in the Super Bowl, our Pee Wees defeated the Northern Division champ Woodridge Blue Devils (Score: 19-0). The Blue Devils had beaten the Pee Wees in the second game of the year. This was an amazing feat!SENIORSLike the Pee Wees, the Saddle Brook Seniors had a remarkable 2007 season! Finishing second in the Northern Division, this group also ravaged through the playoffs only relinquishing 14 points in three games, while scoring an impressive 72 points. In round 1 they were victorious over the Woodridge Blue Devils (Score: 30-8) In round 2, they triumphed over the undefeated Southern Division champs Carlstadt/East Rutherford Wildcats (Score: 8-0) after losing to them in the opening day contest. Finally in the Super Bowl, our Seniors defeated the Lyndhurst Bears (Score: 34-6). GREAT JOB BOYS!JUNIORSThe 2007 Juniors also had a remarkable season and made it to the second round of the playoffs. This group, even though being light in numbers, played their hearts out all season and into the playoffs. 2008 Season Recap SENIORS PLAY HARD BUT LOSE A HEART BREAKERThe Senior Falcons lost to the Carlstadt E/R Wildcats by a score of 22-8. The score did not reflect the game play that occurred on the field. Our boys played with a desire and intensity that was evident all year. The Falcons scored in the 1st quarter and defense shut down the always potent Wildcat offense for nearly 2 quarters until a late 1st half TD by the Wildcats tied the game right before the half. Two more scores in the 2nd half by the Wildcats put out the game out of reach for our Seniors. You left it all on the field, your coaches couldn't have asked for more!!Our Seniors have 4 Super Bowl Championships in the past 5 years, and while they may have had a setback in this competition, still have a bright future at the high school level. Stay together boys there is nothing you can't accomplish if you hang tough. Your coaches wish the 8th graders the best of luck in high school.To the 8th Graders:You were the backbone of our Championship team. Continue to play hard with the intensity and desire. You have a future as winners. We had a lot of fun. THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK. WE FELL SHORT, BUT YOU STILL HAVE AN AGENDA, THAT INCLUDES A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!To the 7th Graders:See you on August 1st, we have some unfinished business.Message from Coach Pete: Boys, you had a great season, no one worked as hard as you did, I know that, and thanks for having a great work ethic! Go Get Em' Falcons!JUNIORS EDGED BY H.H. AFTER A TOUGH BATTLEThe Juniors had a terrific season in 2009. They qualified for the playoffs for the fifth season in a row and gave it all they had in Round 1. Unfortunately they were beaten by the eventual Super Bowl Champion Hasbrouck Heights after a tough fought outing. This group has a lot of talent and we look forward to seeing them next year! Nice Job Boys and Coaches!PEE WEES PLAY TOUGH BUT ARE TOPPED BY RUTHERFORDOur Pee Wees were defeated by the Rutherford Bulldogs on Saturday night by a score of 6-0. It was a great game as both teams basically duked it out at mid-field for most of the game. After the Bulldogs scored, with minutes to go in the 1st half, our Falcons rose to the challenge and drove down to the 20 yard line but were stalled as time ran out. The 2nd half saw no scoring by either team, even though our Falcons staved off the Bulldogs after a turnover on their own 10 yard line. Unfortunately, our boys had their backs pinned an were unable to score while pinned deep. The Pee Wees had a great season and there are high hopes for this group in the future.
